Even odder/more macabre: here in Belgium we have ice cream cakes shaped like a lamb, and when you cut the head off, raspberry coulis comes out like blood.

It helps stabilize the vertical cupcake - the first time I made it I used a tall, narrow muffin tin mold and found the second dowel to be helpful. You may not need it!
